What are some children’s books about West Virginia?

The board book Night Night West Virginia is a fun way to introduce babies and toddlers to some of the state’s sites.
Love is All Around, West Virginia is a Valentine’s themed book, but can really be used any time of the year.
What are some family-friendly bookish things to do in West Virginia?
One of my favorite travel experiences pre-kids was visiting China? I loved it so much that I had to read everything set in China that I could get my hands on. It is still one of my favorite settings for a book. What does this have to do with West Virginia?
Well, one of the books I read and, (excuse the overuse of this word) LOVED was Pearl S. Buck’s The Good Earth. While the book is set firmly in the Middle Kingdom, Buck was born in West Virginia. She lived in the state for three months before moving to China and living there for 40 years.
For visitors to West Virginia, I would suggest visiting her birth home. While her most famous book is geared towards readers starting at an age slightly higher than this site’s focus, Buck is an author kids will know. The other added benefit to this visiting her birth home for families is that the property talks about her time in both West Virginia and China. I think it will offer a unique perspective for visitors of all ages.
Visiting West Virginia?
My first experience with West Virginia was only in the past few years. Because of where family is located, most of our family’s US travel has been either up and down the east coast, or the west coast. However, we drove through WV a few years ago and I couldn’t believe how beautiful the state is. It was a bit of a shock. We’ve driven through more and stayed once, and I’m glad we experienced this great state.
