What type of children’s books about do we have?
Iowa State fans will love introducing their future Cyclone to the school with the board book Iowa State University 101.
One book that I still have to list below is Blue Jasmin. The story is about a young girl who moves with her family from India to Iowa City. It is geared for kids ages 9 and up and is a good way to see Iowa through a newcomer’s perspective.
What are some child-friendly book activities in Iowa?
Iowa City is the only UNESCO City of Literature in the United States. You can read all about the UNESCO City of Literature designation here. There are many bookish activities to do around town, but two that I would like to point out would be fun for kids.
The One Book Two Book Festival is a children’s literature festival held annually over a weekend in February. It has been on my wishlist since I first heard about it. As their about section explains, it doesn’t just focus on showcasing authors to families – but also “champion(ing) writing by children.”
The Iowa City Lit Walk celebrates 49 authors with Iowa ties. Among these, there are children’s book authors and quotes attributed to them.
Here are some Iowa City hotels.
