I’ve always had a fascination with Alaska. Growing up our overseas moves included an extended stopover in Anchorage. Since I mostly lived in tropical weather, it was a shock to see snow from a distance in the summer.

As I get older my love of Alaska grows. I’m glad you’re here looking for some books to share this beautiful state with your kids.

What children’s books about Alaska will you find here?

We have a nice variety of books geared towards little kids and up to middle school. Introduce the littlest ones to Alaska with the Alaska ABC Book, or a story about Alaska’s Three Bears. Kid’s will also appreciate seeing the state from another kid’s perspective in Once Upon Alaska: A Kid’s Photobook. Some of the series chapter books include one from the Greetings from Somewhere series and the Race the Wild series.

What are some fun book events in Alaska?

Alaska Book Week happens annually in early October. While this event isn’t geared towards children, it tends to have child-friendly activities included in the schedule.
