Savannah is one of my favorite cities in the state and kids can learn more how to appreciate it in Cool Stuff Every Kid Should Know: Savannah and the State of Georgia.
Mystery fans enjoy the chapter book, The Awesome Atlanta Mystery, which includes stops at Stone Mountain and Gone with the Wind sites.
Finally, there’s a Newbery Medal winner about a Japanese-American family who moves to Georgia, kira-kira.
What are some bookish things for families to do in Georgia?
There’s nothing better for a budding book fan than a bookstore. I’d like to highlight two kid’s bookstores in Georgia:
- Decatur, Georgia, Little Shop of Stories: This amazing store has events, a book of the month club, storytime, summer camps, reading programs, host birthday parties and sells awesome children’s books in an adorable setting. Here are some Decatur hotels.
- Monroe, Georgia, The Story Shop: This beautiful shop hosts celebrations, field trips, story time, author events, and will even let you use their shop as the background for a bookish photoshoot. And here are some hotels in Monroe.
