Children’s books set in Lousiana
Welcome! If you’re looking for children’s books about Lousiana, you’ve come to the right place. However, we also have a post dedicated to children’s books about New Orleans that you can check out if you’d like, too.
Still, feel free to scroll down to check out the books for kids between the ages of 0 and 14.
What types of children’s books set in Louisiana will you find here?
As I mentioned about, there’s a whole post dedicated to children’s books about New Orleans. However, we still have some listed here.
One of my favorites from that list is Marvelous Cornelius. This book is illustrated by John Parra who has quickly become one of my favorite children’s book illustrators. He’s also really great to follow on Twitter.
A Catfish Tale: A Bayou Story of the Fisherman and His Wife is a cute book that kids will also enjoy.
And, amidst all of the heavily New Orleans-set or Mardi Gras themed selections, there’s Night Night Lousiana, a board book that shows images from across the state.
What are some family-friendly bookish things to do in Lousiana?
One of the biggest things that bring people to this site is the search for French Language children’s books. While we don’t offer suggestions for books written in other languages, I am happy to suggest a place in New Orleans for those looking for those books. The French Library.
The French Library is an online and in-person bookstore. They are open Tuesday-Saturday for browsing books and doing some of the crafts at the tables. On Sunday it is tea parties and special events. In addition to the French children’s books, there are also English children’s books, French toys, games and is geared towards the beautiful art of children’s play.
