Throughout the month of April I’m participating in the A-Z Blogging Challenge.
My theme: the ultimate Kids’ Travel Book: the kid’s own travel journal.
Each day I will post a prompt based on the letter of the day and some thoughts on the prompt. I’ll also post a downloadable that will be free for the duration of the challenge. At the end of the month, if you follow along, you will have 26 awesome prompts for your kids to use on your next trip. You will also have 26 downloads that will make the best keepsake.
If you’d like to receive a free downloadable cover for their travel journal, please subscribe to the kids’ travel books newsletter. (Link is at the end of the post.)
Now let’s get on with it.
Kid’s Travel Journal: A is for About my Trip
When I get a new journal the first thing I want to do is write in it. That’s hard to do when I buy a travel journal. The trip hasn’t started. What do I write about? Enter: About My Trip.
For kids, this journal entry is particularly, well, A for AWESOME. Here’s why. There’s two types of families in this world:
Type 1: The type who allows their kids to make the travel plans.
Type 2: The type who don’t.
If you involve your kids in the planning process, then the “ABOUT MY TRIP” prompt is the perfect way to make sure they have the things organized that they need to have organized.
For those of us who don’t have their kids completely involved in planning, “ABOUT MY TRIP” gives kids an opportunity to learn a little more before they go. This is how they start to get excited about it. This is, perhaps, the key to the whole thing.
Since you read this far, I’m going to congratulate you with a free download. This download will be available here until mid-May. Click on the image to download the PDF.
Update: The download is now only accessible for newsletter subscribers. Subscribe here. Subscribers also get access to the resource library which includes free downloads once a month.
If you’re still looking for something to download on this page, I created a one-sheet list of the prompts created for this challenge. Click on the image to download
Important thing to add to travel journals with the “About my Trip” Prompt
If you opt-out of using the printable, you still won’t want to skip out on this particular prompt. Include one, or more, of the following details.
- Journalers name
- Trip Dates
- Trip Destination
- Thoughts about the destination prior to getting there
- Thoughts about the things the journaler is most excited to see
Question for the commenters
I know a big part of the A-Z Challenge is meeting other bloggers and leaving comments. So, to help those of you leaving comments, you can either comment on something above or let me know:
What are some of the things “ABOUT YOUR TRIP” that you’d want to record before you go? The dates? Confirmation numbers? A brief look at the history? Let me know down below and hit some social share buttons while you’re at it.
And next…
Every day during the challenge I’ll be linking to another participant. Today’s lucky participant is…
Diana Elle – An Expat Lifestyle Blog who will be blogging about the ABCs of Hamburg, Germany. Please take a moment to visit her next.
I’ll be back tomorrow with… the letter B!

What a fun and lovely idea. Personally, I’m between kids at this time. Mine is grown and no grandchildren yet, but I’ve shared your post on Facebook for all my friends with kids and grands. Have fun with the challenge.
