The Living In… series of one of my favorite early readers. I like the destination-specific themes. Also, they encourage kids to learn about the world at an early age. Huge plus. I think parents will appreciate that they’re really popular with our Kids Travel Books readers, too. The wide variety of things kids can learn about, by reading it themselves, and at a low price point is a good combination. I decided to create a free download for parents to use in conjunction with any of the books in the series.

What is Living In… and why the free download?
The Living In… series is a Ready-to-Read series of books by Scholastic. These books are considered “Level 2 – Superstar Reader!” books that include small chapters, longer sentences, and more interesting vocabulary words.
The books all follow a similar format:
- A colorful map cover highlighting key cities.
- “Narration” by a local “host”
- Discovering the country by joining the host on a typical day in their life, which includes eating with family, going to school and learning about things they learn about in school, and after school activities.
- An overview of the country at the end of the book.
- The books will cover the basics + history + culture + food + fun.
This free download is meant to accompany this series of books. The prompts are geared to helping kids remember some of the details they’re reading about the place. Because the books follow the same format, the questions can be used with any of the books in the series.
What books are in the Living In… Series?
Below you’ll find the list of books. These are currently listed on Kids Travel Books. Browse them to find the ones you’re looking for. Or purchase the first set, the Around the World Collection, to get several at once.
I’ve also seen these books available at my children’s Scholastic Book Fairs at school. You can purchase there and support your school at the same time.
Do you want to join other like-minded families who are interested in learning about other cultures via books and travel? Join our Facebook Group. I approve new members daily. It’s still small but growing.
