I am trying to post more for 2019, but I am taking a small break while I add some new features to my site.
Let me tell you about them.
Reaching 2k and a giveaway
When I started this site, I launched with around 600 books listed in the Global Directory. At this moment I’m at 1,965. We’re getting closer to 2,000! That’s amazing.
As we get closer to that goal, I want to have a small giveaway. I will keep you informed as I have more details.
Most likely it will involve…
A NEW KidsTravelBooks newsletter
I stopped sending out a newsletter for many reasons. Mostly, though, it was because I had a lot of spam sign-ups.
I’m revamping my newsletter and relaunching. If you subscribed before you will have to subscribe again. More details to come.
New children’s books set in U.S. States details
I’ve been working on revamping certain sections of the Global Bookshelf. Right now my focus is on books set in U.S. states. If you click on any state, the goal is to have some info about the books set in that state and some bookish ideas for families visiting the state. You can see what I’m talking about in children’s books set in Alaska or children’s books about Missouri.
This takes some time, but I’m currently half-way through and hope to complete all of the U.S. states by the middle of April.
A project that’s been a long time coming
Along with that I’ve finally figured out how to add age range suggestions to the individual books. This feature has been requested since the L.A. times first reviewed this site back in 2016.
As I mentioned earlier, there are 1,965 books on the Global Bookshelf. This is going to take a few months to complete, but once it’s complete I will announce it in our new newsletter.
Bookish things for families
So, that’s all for now. If you have any suggestions for bookish things for families to experience while traveling, please let me know.
I’ll be back soon enough with regular posting.
Thanks for following along.
