Today is the last day of Robin Barone’s fall contribution to our Bookstore Love series. She’s telling us about the Town Bookstore in Westfield, NJ. Thank you, Robin, for your contributions to this series and showing us amazing bookstores around the U.S. I hope to hear more from you as you visit more stores in the new year.
Before getting to her recommendation, I wanted to take a moment to encourage you to visit her website and check out her cute book, Where’s Robin?.
In the bustling retail neighborhood of Westfield, NJ, The Town Book Store is a friendly haven for books of all ages! Though small in size, the owner has curated a list of front and backlist titles for all genres. On my visit, I loved watching locals swing by to see “what’s new” and often “pop in” to explore. My favorite part about this store is the weekly newsletter curated by the owner. The newsletter is well designed and provides thoughtful content. The owner recognizes the value of her store to the local community and invests the time to invite outside visitors to interact with locals. Her stores foster community, and the staff love talking about books beyond industry reviews which contributes to the rich experience and joy in buying your next book!
After checking out the website, I can see why this is such a loved store. They feel like there’s that strong connection between community and books with author events, staff picks (I always love seeing staff picks), and the store’s 80+ year legacy. Plus, they were voted NJ’s Best Independent Bookstore in 2017. Support them either online or in person, here’s everything you need to know.
