This story, aimed at kids ages 10 & up tells about the early 19th century American Colonization Society. What did they want? A colony for free black and former slaves. It was a controversial idea for people, but it ended up with a group of people settling in the west coast of Africa in 1822.
The country, which was eventually named Liberia, encountered many issues. This book includes excerpts from diaries and letters written by those early settlers.
There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children.
One of these is roots; the other, wings.
